DON WHITING

Assistant Coach, JV1

Don Whiting joined the FHS volleyball coaching staff in 2017, after several decades in the adult competitive volleyball leagues. He has run a skills and drills program for adult volleyball players who were interested in improving their technique and knowledge of how to play more competitively. He also brings his previous training as an ACE/WITS certified personal trainer towards improving the players overall fitness and focus on the court.

 

Don Whiting started volleyball in college at the University of Toledo, learning competitive two man sand play - where he also earned a degree in electrical engineering. He transitioned his knowledge of outdoor play to indoor at George Washington university, and participated in the adult leagues in the Washington DC area for many years before moving to the Indianapolis area 4 years ago. He currently works at Beckman Coulter as a Senior Electrical Systems Engineer. Don Whiting currently resides in Castleton, and continues to play in competitive adult indoor and sand leagues around the Indianapolis area. When not involved with volleyball, he enjoys road cycling, golfing, and creating stained glass designs.
